  1. What is the Staff Foundation? • ANZ National’s payroll giving programme. Launched in 2001 • Staff contribute from their fortnightly pay and the Bank matches their contributions dollar for dollar • Each quarter the Staff Foundation Board reviews applications from community organisations and allocates the funds available • Relaunched in 2007 to all staff across all of our businesses • The Staff Foundation has helped more than 250 community organisations throughout New Zealand since its inception • $1 million in community grants • Currently 1,114 staff are members. We aim to increase membership to 1,500 in 2008.

Benefits Our People • Staff engagement • We make it easy for our people to give – even $1/fortnight makes a difference when pooled with other contributions so it’s accessible to everyone • Our people can access funding for their favourite causes – each application must be supported by a contributing member • Compliments our paid volunteer leave policy The Community • We can support more organisations and spread donations more widely in the community • Smaller charities which wouldn’t qualify for sponsorship have an avenue for accessing funding

How does it work? • Administered through payroll • Staff can join at any time and nominate how much they’ll give • All of the donations and matched funds are given to the community • The Foundation is administered by Trustees Executors (pro bono) • Framework and criteria to determine eligibility • Staff are involved every step of the way – it’s their Foundation • They contribute • Support applications • Those elected to the Board review applications and make funding decisions • And they present the cheques.

  4. ANZ National Bank Staff Foundation Grants in action A grant of $2,308 to Ronald McDonald House in Wellington replaced two small television sets and purchased 13 DVD players for patient rooms. The House provides temporary accommodation for the families of seriously ill children. Up to 13 families can stay at the house at any one time. “Your thoughtfulness will bring cheer to families at this traumatic time and make our House more of a home."

  5. Grants in action A grant of $2,600 to North Shore Hospice purchased an Argus Infusion Pump for blood transfusions and delivering medication. This equipment allows improved administration of medicine for patients and frees up valuable nursing time. “The Argus Pump has become an invaluable piece of equipment, providing relief for terminal patients.”

  6. Grants in action A grant of $3,585 assisted the Auckland Women’s Centre Teen Mothers Support Programme. The Centre provides support, information, referrals and advice on issues of health, child development and parenting skills and abusive relationships and is used by more than 10,000 women every year. “It has benefited me by giving lots of good advice for myself and my daughter.”
