  6. Denial- Politicians that choose to hide their past mistakes because they don’t want the world to know. (Herman Cain) • Displacement- Putting the blame on the object that you lost (like Nicole with her keys) • Projection- You feel guilty about cheating on a test, so you find ways to accuse others of your crime. • Rationalization- Telling yourself eating one more cookie won’t have any effect just so you don’t feel guilty Defense Mechanisms

  7. Whenever we do something that we know is wrong all of us feel guilty. • Example: Molli took too many cookies out of the cookie jar, when she knew she was only allowed to take one. Later she felt bad about breaking the rules. Our Lives

  8. Pros: Guilt can make you realize the error of your ways • It also prevent you from making decisions you’ll regret • Cons: You can get in trouble after you feel so guilty that you admit your wrongdoing. • You can feel so guilty that you get stressed out. Good or Bad?
