Four notions to create a pathway to principled leadership… • Problem-solving by team-building • and synergy begins with a • critical event.
Not knowing the outcome can lead to fear and insecurity, or to entering the discovery process together in a state of security.
Whether the route is one or the other depends on: • the capacity of those in a leadership position to facilitate; • the political and social will of the group (which is an aspect also of the facilitator's ability to inspire people)
And it also depends on … • staying connected and keeping connections • remaining patient without losing • faith in people.
Problem-solving happens • in the community, however that community may be defined. Solutions and outcomes are not from the top down.
Community involvement and empowerment emerge when the organization/institution/individual gives power away.
4. The process is sustained by passion for the mission - that is, a clear direction or desire to find an answer to the problem. The core values of trust, respect, insight, and collaboration become the values of the partnership
