  4. …Game Play • Each point is started with a serve which takes place behind the baseline of the court • It must continue to the other side and bounce within the lines • The point continues until a player fails to hit the ball • The point then goes to the player (or team) with the last hit `

  5. Serving • With both feet behind the baseline, take a sideways stance • Your left hand is raised into an upright position holding the ball • Do not the release the ball too soon • Throw the ball about 18 inches above your normal reach and about a foot away from your left foot.

  6. Serving • Bring the racket up to where you threw the ball • It should collide at full stretch • Shift weight from back leg to front leg • Use “up and over” action to follow through

  7. Continuing The Game • Once the serve is successful, the game will continue with a series of forehand hits (the most common) back hand hits and of course lots of running. Forehand Backhand

  8. Scoring • Each Game is divided into 5 scores: love, 15, 30, 40, and game. • If both players tie at 40 – 40, this is called a ‘deuce’. • Which ever player wins the next point will go to ‘advantage’ and then to ‘game’ • The server’s score is always given first
