  1. Non-Tidal Data Creating a database for non-tidal network submittals to CBPO

  2. Database Development • Identify sources of all non-tidal data • Request file samples from sources • Organize and compile files • Pinpoint differences among formats • Ensure all desired data will come in • Create database, or incorporate with Tidal • Create QAT for data • Work with sources to upload to CBPO

  3. Information collection • Sources: • Mike Langland for current database • Submit to CBPO already: • MD: Bruce Michael (DNR), and SMCM • VA: Cindy Johnson • PA: Kevin McGonigal (SRBC) • Others: • WVA: Doug Chambers • NY: Kevin McGonigal (SRBC) • PA DEP: Rick Shertzer— separate from SRBC data?? • DE: Kathy Knowles • Anyone missing?

  4. Organize files and formats • Requested/received files from sources, except PA DEP? • Issues: • Parameters are not all the same, agencies collect more or different data- do we want to include all data collected? Why are there differences? • Ensure methods and all supporting data for all data (stations, parameters, etc) are available and incorporated in database

  5. BOTH FIELD AND LAB PARAMETERS Included: BOD20W DE BOD5W DE,VA CHLA DE, VA CLW DE,VA DO DE, WVA,MD,VA DO_SAT_P WVA,MD DOC DE,MD,VA FCOLI_C DE,VA FCOLI_M VA FSS VA FLOW_INS WVA,SRBC GAGE_HEIGHT WVA,SRBC HARDNESS DE,VA NH4F ALL NH4W SRBC, VA NO23F ALL NO23W SRBC,VA NO2F WVA,,MD,VA NO2W VA NO3F WVA NO3W WVA ORP MD PC MD,VA PH ALL PHEO VA PIC VA PIP MD,VA PN MD,VA PO4F MD,WVA,SRBC,VA PO4W VA PP MD,VA SIF VA SO4F MD SO4W VA SPCOND ALL SSC_FINE WVA,SRBC SSC_%FINE VA SSC_SAND SRBC SSC_TOTAL WVA,SRBC, VA TALK DE, MD TDN SRBC,MD,VA TDP SRBC,MD,VA TKNF SRBC TKNW SRBC, VA TN DE, SRBC,VA TOC SRBC TON WVA TP SRBC,DE,WVA,VA TSS ALL TURB_NTU DE,MD,VA VSS MD WTEMP ALL CIMS Parameter and Agency

  6. These parameters are taken by WVA and are not in the tidal (CIMS) database currently: DO WE WANT THIS DATA? P25 : Air Pressure P445: Carbonate,wu,fxd mg/L P450: Bicarbonate,wu,i mg/L P452: Carbonate,wf,icr mg/L P453: Bicarbonate,wf,i mg/L P660: Orthophosphate, mg/L P39086: Alkalinity, wf,i mg/L CaCO3 P62855: Total nitrogen, mg/L P63676:Turbidity, NephR NTRU P71846: Ammonia, wf mg/L NH4 P71851: Nitrate, wf mg/L P71856: Nitrite, wf mg/L P80155: Suspnd sedmnt di tons/day NTID Parameters NOT in CIMS

  7. Creating the database • The bigger issues: • Separate from the Tidal? • Nontidal data already present in CIMS from VA, MD and SRBC (PA) • One database = less changes to submittals, etc • How different are the uses for nontidal and will a separate database make a difference • Anticipating the finished product • Spring 2007, April
