The Better Life Minding the Financial Gap “In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has.” Proverbs 21:20 10 + 10 + 80 = 100 1Timothy 6:6-10 “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” What is our cultures definition of happiness? “...more than I currently have” It's not an income problem, it’s a lifestyle problem

But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Today normal ‘Christian’ giving averages out at 2% of yearly income Most ‘Christians’ actually think that more of the world will make them happy

Our prayer as a church and as individuals should be... "God, how do you want me to manage the resources that you entrust to my care?"

For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.” What does tithing do? • It trains us and teaches us that God will do more with 90% than we can do with 100% • It builds faith • It breaks the power of materialism and consumerism in our lives • “...seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.” • Being rich • Relationally • Spiritually • In the things that matter most It's more blessed to give than to receive
