  2. Introduction Indian weddings are a wonderful event with lots of colors and flowers all around. The event is soulful affair that consists of various ancient traditions and rituals. While many of these traditions are meaningful some of them are quite outdated and unusual. Here we would discuss some of these strange Indian wedding traditions.

  3. First & Last Name Change This is tradition that is very common in Northern India and parts of west india where the bride changes here first and last name after the marriage. The first name is usually find out through a calculation of astrological chart while the last name comes from the husband’s last name.

  4. Bride Marrying a Tree In this Indian wedding tradition, the bride is made to marry a tree or a dog. Now this might look crazy but as per Hindu traditions this is done to avoid early death of the husband. The bride marries a tree or a dog to avoid effects of any curse on her husband. Indians strongly believe in astrology and hence even wedding date is determined in accordance with the position of the stars.

  5. Bride’s Mother Banned from the Wedding As strange this might sound to you, in a few Indian weddings, the mother of the bride is not allowed in the wedding. This is because of the belief that the mother witnessing the wedding can have harmful effect on the bride.
