This course delves into the intersections of criminal utopias, science fiction, and crime literature across Scandinavia. Students will engage with curated readings and materials that illuminate themes of justice, society, and the human condition in these narratives. Through active participation, discussions, and analytical essays, participants will critically examine how these genres reflect and critique societal norms. Coursework includes a formal essay and two in-class exams, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.

Essay and Exams The Essay is formal, analytical and 3-4 pages long. Topics for writing will be provided. The Essay is due on the last day of class. The 2 exams will be written in class. The exams will consist of mix-and-match and essay questions. There is no final exam in this class.
