8th Grade Students Build Unique Acoustic Guitars in Creative STEAM Project

Over five weeks, 8th grade art students at Rahway Academy designed and constructed their own acoustic guitars. They explored how sound is produced and incorporated sustainable practices by using recycled cardboard. After learning safe tool usage with hot glue guns and X-acto knives, each student created a distinct guitar reflecting their personal design. This project not only showcases creativity and craftsmanship but also emphasizes the importance of sustainability in art. Enjoy a glimpse of their incredible work!

They then watch a short video that explains how real acoustic guitars are made. Students then learn how to safely use hot glue guns and x-acto knives, and cardboard that has been recycled from what our school throws away on a daily basis, they then construct a functioning acoustic guitar of their own design!
