What is “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”? • The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a novel that was produced into a movie about a teenager named Charlie who enters high school and faces the reality of many different kinds of people, and situations of being bullied. Charlie finds out more about himself, what he wants, and who his real friends are. It teaches you about relationships that go on in high school, drugs and how to deal with them.

  3. History • The book was published in 1999, written by Stephen Chbosky. Published by MTV books. It was made into a movie in 2012. It takes place in Pittsburgh in the early 1990’s, that's what makes this book so interesting, we weren’t born in the early 1990’s so it’s fascinating to read about what went on in the early 1990’s and compare to how times are now. The book is formatted in diary form, so it seems like Charlie (the main character) is writing to you specifically.

  7. Why We Love The Book/Movie I love the book because its really different. I haven’t read anything similar to it even though I barely read. It’s sad to read about Charlie’s past and all that's happened to him, and it’s sad to read what happens to all the other characters, its a sad and happy book. Mostly happy though. This is probably the best book I’ve ever read, and one of the best movies I’ve watched. It’s so interesting and I learned a lot in it. The quotes are the best part of the book, they mean so much. - Marina

  8. I love the book and movie because it really touched me. Entering high school I didn’t know what to expect neither did Charlie. Watching the movie showed me the real reality of it then how other movies televise it. Reading the book helped me find who my real friends are, to participate more and find who I really want to be. It toughed me to keep going even when things in life went bad. It’s a book that every teenager can relate too. Another reason why I love the movie is because the leading role is played by my favourite actor Logan Lerman. - Allyson
