  1. Can emotions affect ones behavior? Can environment affect ones behavior? Can weather affect ones behavior? Can media affect ones behavior? Interests

  2. Emotional Eating Emotional eating is the practice of consuming large amounts of food such as comfort and junk foods to replace feelings instead of hunger. It is estimated that 75% of overeating is caused by emotions.

  3. Inspiration • I myself experience occasional emotional eating when I am under stress or anxiety • It affects my everyday life as I have close friends who are obese or overweight from a result of emotional eating • I want to create something that benefits society

  4. Design Questions • Can already existing technology be used to make people aware of their emotions and help them to control their emotional eating? • Can creating a social network for people with the same kind of problem using an instant support response network help one control their eating?

  6. User Research • Set up a survey on SurveyMonkey.com • Sent out the survey to random people through e-mail asking them a total of nine questions • Received 32 responses from the survey http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=oOLwjK2sa2eYSMiPQPDgNQ_3d_3d

  7. 1. Do you feel that you are an emotional eater? 2. How many times a day do you think you do it? Results Survey of 32 people

  15. Conclusion Due to the responses of my user testing I believe that it would be very beneficial to continue the development of this project. Over the course of this process I have developed a greater appreciation for the disease caused by emotional eating.
