  13. Estimating the Cost Need Based Financial Aid • FAFSA(Free Application for Federal Student Aid) • PROFILE(Financial aid application service of the College Board) Families must reapply annually

  14. Applying for Financial Aid • Meet earliest deadline of colleges in which you are interested. • Complete all questions accurately • Estimate if necessary to meet early deadlines • Don’t wait until you are admitted to file the FAFSA • Keep a photocopy of all documents for your records

A Quick Lesson in Financial Aid • Cost of Attendance = tuition & fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and miscellaneous personal expenses. • The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) = parent contributions and student contributions calculated by FAFSA or PROFILE. • Financial Need = Cost of Attendance minus the Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
