  2. 名词[míngcí] NOUN: A person, place, or thing. • Boy • Desk • Water • Fire • Pen • Shanghai

  3. 形容词[xínɡrónɡcí ] Adjective: Describes a noun • Beautiful • Weak • Ugly • Gentle • Boring

  4. 动词 [dòngcí]Verb: Action words (also linking and helping verbs: “be” verbs ) • Run • Spit • Stare • Eat • Cry

  5. 副词 [fùcí]Adverb: Words that describe nouns (they usually end in –ly) (How, When, Where, Why) • Quickly • Happily • Well • Very • There (I will eat there.)

  6. 冠词 [guàncí]Article: The, An, A

  7. 介词 [jiècí]Preposition: shows the spatial (where something is) relationship, of one word to another • In • Around • At • On • Beside

  8. 连词 [liáncí]Conjunction: Words that join two parts of a sentence together For And Nor But Or Yet So

  9. 代词 [dàicí]Pronoun: Words that replace nouns • I • Them • Yourself • We • They • You • Him
