Maryland's Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge: Enhancing Early Childhood Education

Maryland has submitted an ambitious State Plan to the U.S. Department of Education under the Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge Grant. With a vision to create seamless Birth to 12 reform, this plan focuses on ten key projects designed to improve early learning outcomes. It includes initiatives such as establishing Local Early Childhood Councils, implementing a tiered quality rating system (Maryland EXCELS), enhancing early learning standards, and fostering family engagement.
