  2. Highscientificandtechnicalresults Almost 25 years of project RIM and almost10 yearsdurationofflight, whichispractically a record. Morethan 55 terabyte of data had been received. The processing and analysis of the information was done in many fields of science, such as cosmology, cosmic ray physics, solar physics, physics of radiation belt and so on. More than 50 scientific articles has been published and today a few thousands of references to these works. In 2008, AmericanPhysicalSocietyincluded “theanomalous PAMELA effect” amongdecadeofthedistinguishedscientificresults.

What do we learn from the second stage of • ussian-Italian Mission (RIM)-PAMELA? • The exceptionally competent choice of a scientific problem and a reasonable way to solve it; it has made possible to unite the scientists of high level (from Germany, Italy, Russia, Sweden, and USA in the beginning) who possess the knowledge of the subject and the experience gained from previous researches. • An exceptionally large enrolment of young and talented people into the project work. Approximately 50 young graduates have accepted the positions offered to them for active participation at all the stages of the implementation of the RIM-PAMELA program. About half of them received the degrees of PhD and the candidate of science and doctor of science. • An exceptionally significant level of the material input of the participated countries into a project realization, the equal rights to the access to data and to the publications of the distinguished scientific results. • Extremely friendly attitude of team members toward each other and the absence of any serious complications in a shared work.

  4. Future The projects of RIM-2 continue; the processing and analysis of the data received in the last years is yet to be done. I hope as well that members of the RIM project will carry on the successful scientific and technical collaboration within the GAMMA-400 project, included in the Russian Federal program of Space researches, which may potentially become the third stage of RIM-PAMELA program. In conclusion, I thank all members of the project. I wish them to be healthy and get new high results wherever they work today. I believe that the experience and knowledge of members and the friendship between them acquired in the Project will always be present in their lives.
