    4. Role and function of the PPC CCL 536 help in fostering pastoral action and, the Pastoral Council has only a consultative vote. To advise on pastoral care Pastoral care is shepherding We have no powers! To have a spiritual basis Work in collaborative relationship with pastors To be a conduit of life in the parish To be enablers, not doers, allowing solidarity in balance with subsidiarity To have appropriate membership

    5. How do we do this? Parish life is varied as is the life of our pastoral carers! Can guidelines be set out to help us care better? Caring Together

    6. Caring Together Who needs care, it may not be obvious? What is my response when I see someone in need? Am I prepared to give of myself? Can I refer to others who are more capable? Do I trust others wisely? Am I prepared to fund care? Do I check that care is correct? Do I respond to any further needs? Do I recognise the face of Christ in those I care for? Do I celebrate and share good practice? Do I work as part of a team in the community? Do we all do the same as the Good Samaritan?

    7. Leaving Safe Harbours So far our, present pastoral area: Holy Rosary, Fr John Butchard St Kintergern and St Mary Fr Des Seddon St Georges Fr Joseph Kelly St Gregory and Our Lady Fr John Smith St Anne and St Elizabeth One nominal priest St John Fr Joseph Robinson 9 parishes, 6 priests

    8. The proposal for a suburban area 4 priests - plus extras from St Annes 2 pastoral care workers 2 administrator 6 Churches Budget 75,000 for salaries, training etc Revenue decrease of three eighths Reduction in Church property by 30% Dioscean proposal is to close church buildings Pastoral areas have already decided to consult and have proposed closure of churches
