4. Role and function of the PPC CCL 536 help in fostering pastoral action and, the Pastoral Council has only a consultative vote.
To advise on pastoral care
Pastoral care is shepherding
We have no powers!
To have a spiritual basis
Work in collaborative relationship with pastors
To be a conduit of life in the parish
To be enablers, not doers, allowing solidarity in balance with subsidiarity
To have appropriate membership
5. How do we do this? Parish life is varied as is the life of our pastoral carers!
Can guidelines be set out to help us care better?
Caring Together
6. Caring Together Who needs care, it may not be obvious?
What is my response when I see someone in need?
Am I prepared to give of myself?
Can I refer to others who are more capable?
Do I trust others wisely?
Am I prepared to fund care?
Do I check that care is correct?
Do I respond to any further needs?
Do I recognise the face of Christ in those I care for?
Do I celebrate and share good practice?
Do I work as part of a team in the community?
Do we all do the same as the Good Samaritan?
