Direction influenced by… • National Consensus on the Future of Education in the Cayman Islands 2005 • National Initiatives including literacy and numeracy strategies; National Curriculum and attainment levels; Profile of the Educated Caymanian. • ESAU report April 2008 • IB Consultant’s report January 2009 • ESAU Progress against Action report March 2009
Things we do well… • Opportunities for children to develop social and personal skills • Teachers use a range of strategies to enthuse learning and encourage good behaviour • Library provision for reading and research skills
The Enrichment Programme • Effective links with parents and the community to support children’s education • The PYP coordinator who is driving the IB programme with her thorough knowledge and understanding of the programme’s principles • The staff who are working very hard to implement the new initiatives in line with national and international expectations
Priorities… • Clear understanding of direction for school – School Improvement Plan • Policies and Procedures for consistency and accountability • Monitoring and evaluating the work of the school • Assessment informing learning and teaching and using data to raise standards of achievement
