FINDINGS • EVIDENCE- Chinese dishes - Ming dynasty pottery -Persian bowl • The city abandoned because of decline in gold, diseases, over use of resources, also decline in domestic animals
Karl Mauch • Born in Wurttemberg, Germany • He was a German geologist and a geographer. • First person to report on the archaeological ruins of Great Zimbabwe in 1871. • He was informed about the ruins by Adam Renders who rediscovered the ruins after the city was abandoned. • He claimed the ruins were built to replicate the queen of Sheba. He also said the abandoned city was capital of queen of Sheba’s empire.

Problems faced while researching • The claimers to be the builders of the ruins • No written archaeological evidence found on the site • Biased sources • No actual images of the artifacts • Zimbabwe bird is the only stone carving found and it does not relate to who built the ruins
Final answer to my question • The ruins could have been built by Bantu tribe because they were the majority in population. Some of the tribes, traders and travellers might have contributed and helped built the great walls.
