Down Syndrome • Causes: • Down syndrome is a genetic condition in which a person has 47 chromosomes instead of the usual 46. • Treatment: • There is no specific treatment for Down syndrome however a child born with a gastrointestinal blockage may need major surgery immediately after birth. • Adult life: • Although many children have physical and mental limitations, they can live independent and productive lives well into adulthood. • Other are going to depend on there family members

  3. Spina Bifida Causes: Genes and also the lack of folic acid during pregnacy! • Treatment : • Treatment depends on how severe the defect is. Most children with spina bifida have only a mild defect and may not need treatment. But a child with a severe defect may need surgery. • Adult life: • There going to want to become more independent from there parents. • Learning to take care of their own health needs. • Working. • Finding and using transportation. • Developing healthy relationships Causes: Genes and also the lack of folic acid during pregnacy! .

Congenital heart defects • Causes: • Children with genetic defects often have congenital heart defects. • The cause is unknown. • Treatments: • Some doctors treat it by Procedures using catheters to repair the defect . Surgery to repair the defect can also be a method. • Adult life: • they are able to live active, productive lives. Many need no special care or only occasional checkups with a cardiologist as they grow up into adulthood

Cleft lip/palate • Causes: • Cleft lip/ paleteresults when there is not enough tissue in the mouth or lip area, and the tissue that is available does not join together properly. • a medication a mother may have taken during her pregnancy. Some drugs may cause cleft lip and cleft palate. • Treatment: • A cleft lip may require one or two surgeries depending on the extent of the repair needed maybe even more during the years. • Adulthood: • They have a normal life

  6. FAS • Causes: • Drinking alcohol while pregnancy. • it is a risks to the unborn baby. • it easily passes across the placenta to the fetus • Treatment: • there is no treatment for this. • Adulthood: • They usually have mental problems.

Club foot • Causes: • The cause of clubfoot isn't known • Treatment: • Treatment may be moving the foot into the correct position and using a cast to keep it in place • Note : Some severe cases of clubfoot will require surgery if other treatments do not work, or if the problem returns • Adulthood: • A child born with clubfoot will never have a normal foot.

  8. Cerebral palsy • Causes: • results from damage to certain parts of the developing brain. • cause of the brain damage is known. • Treatment: • there is no exact treatment for this. • Adulthood:

  9. anencephaly • Causes: • The cause of anencephaly is currently unknown. • Many people believe that it may be due to diets, genetic factors, and vitamin intakes. • Treatment: • There is no cure or treatment for this. • Adulthood: • They don’t get to live to this age and if they do its due to mechanical support.
