Crime Prevention Programs • Operation ID • Free for life marking and or engraving program for marking or engraving valuables • ID number assigned by CU Police entered into national data base • Engravers can be borrowed at any time • Identity Theft • Program discusses what identity theft is, how to avoid it What to do if you become a victim, who to report it to

Crime Prevention Programs • Alcohol Awareness • Program reviews laws related to driving while intoxicated • Alcohol related crimes • Simulate intoxication with the wearing of “fatal vision” goggles while attempting simple motor skills • Winter Driving • Prepare participants to focus on inclement weather • Discuss how to prepare a vehicle for winter • Videos with regards to driving on ice and snow

  7. Crime Prevention Survey Types • Loss Prevention • Interior survey • Door hardware, windows, confidential information, need for security system , etc. • Exterior survey • Landscaping , lighting, barriers, blue light phone placement

Lighting Survey • Academic lighting Survey • Done yearly Findings • East & central campus • 30 buildings were reported to have exterior lights out • Several Pole lights were reported out • Total of 88 lights out with tickets turned in to fix lights • Residential Survey • Done yearly • Residential housing found 20 building • 11 found in west campus ,9 in north campus had exterior lights found to be out with tickets issued to fix lights

Lighting Survey Continued • Landscaping issues • Trees needed to be cut back/Vegetation trimmed • Maplewood, Schuyler House • Areas of concern • Schuyler House , Libe Slope, Thurston Court Apts, Jessup Rd& Pleasant Grove Rd Crosswalk area , S. Balch Bus Stop, North Balch Drive, Area between Dickson & Donlon Halls, Fall Creek Drive • Questionable ownership areas: • Corner of Pleasant Grove Rd & Jessup Rd Crosswalk area • North Balch Sidewalk /Driveway, Schuyler House S. sidewalk • Light Pole near SE corner of Cascadilla Hall
