  6. Scanner-Control Preprocess., Registration Modelling CAD-to-Points Points-to-CAD Software for 3D-Laserscannercategories and workflow FARO Record FARO Scene FARO Cloud

  7. CAD-to-Point vs. Point-to-CAD + extremely efficient + high level of automation - long learning period - needs CAD interfaces - expensive + easy to understand + good CAD interfaces + cheap - limitations in handling the point clouds - needs AutoCAD • There is no competition between the two concepts!

  8. Idea of FARO Cloud • FARO Cloud is the integration of point clouds as custom entities in the AutoCAD environment. • The point cloud will be displayed in AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT and can be evaluated with all native AutoCAD commands. • Each point (X,Y,Z) of the point cloud can be snapped with the object-snap of AutoCAD.

  10. AutoCAD -Drawing (DWG) PTC-File Contains all points (x,y,z,r,g,b) in an optimized structure Polyline Point Text Pipe ... reference Custom Entity ? Pointcloud

  11. Object Snap ?

  12. Advantages of the custom entity „Pointcloud“ • less memory consumption • Level of Detail • correct draw-order • exact object-snap • different types of visible sectors

  13. Who is kubit?Technical BackgroundFeaturesKeys to Sell www.kubit.de/indexfaro.htm Questions & Answers

  14. FARO Scene FARO Cloud Creating the PTC file • Export the cloud as a PTC file in FaroScene . • Load the PTC in AutoCAD (extended with FARO Cloud).

  15. Demo of PTC-Export !

  16. Demo of the features! More Features • Visible sectors • Limiting polygon • Slices • Multiple Slices (new in V3) • Bounding Box • Section Manager (new in V3)

  17. New Extensions • Base Module (already exists) • Clash Detection (now ready) • Calculate clashes between points and solids • Other Extensions later this year (Image, Modelling)

  18. Demo of Clash Detection

  20. NO ! NO ! The most important questions Ask your customer: • „Do you work with AutoCAD?“ • „Does the user of your data work with AutoCAD?“ This is not a customer for FARO Cloud !

  21. The most important questions Ask your customer: • „Do you work with AutoCAD?“ • „Does the user of your data work with AutoCAD?“ YES ! This is a new customer for FARO Cloud !

  22. Your customer works with AutoCAD • Load a PTC-file and explain the object-snap. • Define a slice and digitise a line. • Let your customer try on his own. He is the real AutoCAD expert.

  23. The most important questions Ask your customer: • „Do you work with AutoCAD?“ • „Does the user of your data work with AutoCAD?“ YES ! These are a lot of new customers for FARO Cloud !

  24. The customer of the scanner owner works with AutoCAD ! • The owner of the scanner has to understand, that he can deliver his scan data together with FARO Cloud. • The owner of the scanner will be the best reseller of FARO Cloud.

  25. First Opportunity to Sell FARO Cloud ! your customer

  26. Second Opportunity to Sell FARO Cloud ! FARO Cloud ! FARO Cloud ! customers of your customer

  27. FARO Cloud – Types of Licences • There are hardware-locks (dongles) or soft-locks available. • Without a lock, FARO Cloud runs as Free Edition. • With a lock, FARO Cloud runs without limitations.

  28. Demo of this feature FARO Cloud – Free Edition • Full functionality, but works only with activated point clouds. • kubit can activate individual point clouds of potential customers. The customer can evaluate the software with his own data.
