Des Plaines River, Phase II • Phase II expands feasibility study to include the entire Upper Des Plaines watershed including 15 tributaries in Illinois and Wisconsin • Flood risk management, ecosystem restoration, water quality, and recreation benefits • Over 43 municipalities in the watershed suffer damage from the Des Plaines River and tributaries flooding • Recent flood events include: May 2004, August 2007, September 2008, December 2008, April 2013 • Public Release of Draft Feasibility Report was conducted in September 2013 • Draft Report is currently in State and Agency review

Civil Works Studies and Projects • Appropriation: Approval to obligate and expend funds for Congressionally authorized activity or program. • USACE Civil Works projects are funded through an annual Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act.
