  2. What is food? • Something that helps you by providing energy. • Something you require to live. • Something that helps you lose weight. • Something that keeps you fit.

  3. What is a diet? • Your everyday pattern of food • Anything that you eat • Eating proper diet • Eating unbalanced diet will cause disorders

  4. Dieting • Keeping a balanced diet • Eating the amount that is good for you • Not eating too much or too less • 3 meals is a must

  5. How much should I eat? • Different for every person • Less than 1800 calories = bad • Different highest amount to eat for every person • BMR determines how much you eat

  6. Calories • The amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by 1 degree • All food has a caloric value • They are sometimes called Kilocalories

  7. BMR • Basal Metabolic Rate • The body uses up energy • While doing nothing • While sleeping • The amount you use to live • BMR versus caloric intake

  8. How to diet? • Don’t go too low • Check your BMR • Calculate your Calories • Exercise = more caloric need • Stay a bit under your total need
