  3. Devoted to Apostle’s Teachings • They Received the Word • They Researched the Word • They Responded to the Word

  4. 1. They Received the Word • Noble – opened minded towards truth • Noble - because they received message with eagerness • Expectation that God will speak to us • The Rub: If you are not reading…never know the truth….God can’t speak to you.

  5. 2. They Researched the Word • The examined….they searched….they sifted the Scriptures • Psalm 1 • Do you welcome the message of the gospel as the Bereans?

  6. 3. They Responded to the Word • Results of research…many believed. • They responded because they were dangerously devoted • Wanted to hear from God – so that they could live for God!

  7. Are We Ready? • Ready to Receive the Word? • Ready to Research? • Ready to Respond?

  8. Action Steps • Getting it into your Head • Getting it into your Heart • Living it out with our Hand

  9. Getting it into your Head • Read the Bible • Regular Worship • Study Groups

  10. Getting it into your Heart • Allow the Word to get into us. • Journaling, Copy a Passage, Memorize • Psalm 119: 11

  11. Living it out with our Hands • Moral Element – Not just what we know, but what we do with what we know. • What is God asking you to do this morning?

  12. Standing Affirmation • Will you receive the Word with eagerness by doing whatever it takes to get it into your head? • Will you research the Word with regularity by getting it into your heart? • Will you respond to the Word with obedience by living it out with your hands?
