  2. Acts 3:1-11 • 1Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, [being] the ninth [hour].

  3. Acts 3:1-11 • 2And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

  4. Acts 3:1-11 • 3Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.

  5. Acts 3:1-11 • 4And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.

  6. Acts 3:1-11 • 5And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

  7. Acts 3:1-11 • 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

  8. Acts 3:1-11 • 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted [him] up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

  9. Acts 3:1-11 • 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

  10. Acts 3:1-11 • 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:

  11. Acts 3:1-11 • 10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

  12. Acts 3:1-11 • 11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

  13. A.The first eleven verses deals with the healing of a man who had been lame from birth. The man was a beggar and someone would lay him at the gate of the temple each day.

  14. B.Peter and John went into the temple at the ninth hour, which was actual 3:00pm in the afternoon to pray. Jesus prayed 3 times daily. They prayed at 9:00am , 12noon noon and 3:00pm in the afternoon.

  15. C.In the early church people of diverse backgrounds found themselves strangely teamed together. A prime example is that of Peter and John. Peter was impetuous forthright, and very bold. John was more quiet and reserved, one was tender and compassionate.

  16. C. continued Yet at the established hour of prayer, Peter and John went up together into the temple to pray. God also honored their unity by allowing them to be a part of a miracle.

  17. The power of the Blood of Jesus and glory of the Holy Spirit is so strong that men and women of diverse backgrounds can flow together and do the work of God.

  18. 2. The lawyer and security guard can agree together in the name of Jesus. The teacher and the bus driver can agree together and receive a miracle from God. God is not concerned about what you do when it comes to the work of God. He is concerned about the level of your faith.

  19. Acts 3:6 • 6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

  20. D.In verse six(6) we find that Peter and John did not have any money, but they had the power of God, which is more important than money.

  21. 1. Most preachers today have money, but few have the power of God moving through their lives and ministries.

  22. ** I would prefer having the glory and power of God rather than a lot of money.

  23. ** I thank God, however because we can by faith can have both plenty money and Holy Ghost power.

  24. Acts 3:7 • 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted [him] up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

  25. E.Peter and John prayed for the lame man and he was immediately healed. His ankles and his feet received strength. He began to leap, walk, and praise God. No one had to tell him to praise the Lord.

  26. Acts 3:8-11 • 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

  27. Acts 3:8-11 • 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:

  28. Acts 3:8-11 • 10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.

  29. Acts 3:8-11 • 11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

  30. F.When the people saw him who had been lame walking and praising God it filled them with awe and amazement. They were completely astounded. The lame man who was healed would not let go of Peter and John.

  31. F. continued Then all the people gathered around them also. The people were caught up in Peter and John. They were acting as if the miracle of healing had been done by them, without God being involved.

  32. 1. This is a major problem in the church of America. We make stars out of men and women when God is doing something unusual in their lives or ministries. Some people get more excited about (so called Christian Stars) than they do about simply praising God.

  33. 1. continued It is the responsibility of those men and women not to take the praise that should go to God only. They must be sure to inform the people that God is doing the work and they are just the instruments that God is using.

  34. G.Peter saw the people had gotten caught up in he and John. This led Peter to inform them that this healing of the lame man was done by God himself and that the purpose of the miracle was to bring glory to the Lord Jesus.

  35. H.God will reveal His Glory and Power through our lives as long as we are clear on the fact that God is the one who is doing the work. We also must be careful to give God the glory and to glorify Jesus as Lord and Savior.

  36. Acts 3:12-26 • 12And when Peter saw [it], he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

  37. Acts 3:12-26 • 13The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let [him] go.

  38. Acts 3:12-26 • 14But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;

  39. Acts 3:12-26 • 15And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

  40. Acts 3:12-26 • 16And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

  41. Acts 3:12-26 • 17And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did [it], as [did] also your rulers.

  42. Acts 3:12-26 • 18But those things, which God before had shewed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he hath so fulfilled.

  43. Acts 3:12-26 • 19Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

  44. Acts 3:12-26 • 20And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

  45. Acts 3:12-26 • 21Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

  46. Acts 3:12-26 • 22For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.

  47. Acts 3:12-26 • 23And it shall come to pass, [that] every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

  48. Acts 3:12-26 • 24Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.

  49. Acts 3:12-26 • 25Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

  50. Acts 3:12-26 • 26Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
