  1. Finding our way… Faculty Meeting March 3, 2014

  2. Legislative Changes- CCRS

  3. Textbook Committee for ELA • What’s going on. A report from Cindy Hagemann with additional comments from others on the committee.

  4. Write Steps Writing • A “next step” for publishing student work. • Green Screen Adventures • www.greenscreenadventures.tv

  5. Veronica Rice • Look back at your earlier notes regarding the questions we should be asking ourselves and should have our children asking themselves. Close reading does not necessarily require new text, it may just require a new approach. • Complexity of text- Do you need new text or a new approach? Or both? What about pairing selections? Where is the students’ background knowledge? How are you scaffolding? Are they becoming more independent readers?

  6. Go Math! • Your Go Math end-of-year assessments should go to Hagemann when school comes to an end. • I will try to get those to next year’s teacher. His/Her beginning assessment should be a close match. • He/She can then determine what instruction should look like based on individual or whole class deficiencies. • I/You can also determine if some additional whole-school or individual math PD is needed for teachers.

  7. Fast Facts Club/ 144 Club • List I found from Bynum last year. One for each grade level. • Those celebrations will be on Tuesday, May 13th. • Leslie and I will be updating the bulletin boards, the circles for FF, the ribbons for 144, etc….

  8. OC Workday • Thursday, March 13th during PE times. • Green Team parents are invited, too. • You are invited to join your class! • Make sure you stress “play clothes/ work clothes” for that day.

  9. Visiting Author on Friday, March 14th… • A report from Ed.

  10. Table Top Safety Drill • These are some “talk about it” drills for us to use as a way of proactively approaching problems. I have randomly selected Exercise #114. (Some of the exercises are too specific to principals for us to use as a whole faculty.) • There is no one perfect answer that we are looking for here, but it’s a good conversation to have.

  11. Transfers Among Elems… • Requests to transfer students from one Hartselle City Elementary School to another must be submitted in writing and received in the Superintendent’s office no later than May 1, 2014. Approval of transfer request(s) from nonresident student(s) is contingent upon adequate space and personnel at the requested school. Access Transfer Request Form at the attached link. 2/3/2014 • (This is currently on the district page and the BB page. Please share with your parents.)

  12. Putting Your Class Lists Together… • A form is attached. • It is due on Friday, April 4th. • I will be meeting with Wilson, Horton, and Craft tomorrow about several items relating to next year. At that time I will be certain Wilson is comfortable with our Non-Request Protocol. If he is, I will begin accepting non-requests on Wednesday, March 4th and will accept them throughout the month of March.

  13. Your Grade Level Supply Lists • Now is the time to start reviewing these for next year. Please work as a grade level to have these ready for Mrs. Adams to post on the webpage by May 1st. Are the items reasonably priced? Can they be found at places other than Learning Tree? • K will have their supply lists ready sooner for their Kindergarten Registration on April 28th and 29th.

  15. A Proposal for 2014-15 Early Release Days… • Attached • If you would like to be part of a “roundtable discussion” regarding the plan for these days next year, please pencil-in MONDAY, MARCH 10th after school.

  16. Muscular Dystrophy Day • Interested in being “arrested” for an hour or so? • You raise funds for people to “bail you out.” • Thursday, April 3rd. • Mary Martin at 205-823-8191.
