It is a very apt value for this time in the year as excited children look forward to the big day and we focus on the birth of a baby who waited for 30 years before taking centre stage in changing the world. We as a school have had to show great patience in our journey towards achieving our Values mark award and I am delighted to tell you after much hard work from the staff, children, governors and parents, we have attained this award. The logo will go on our letters and we are proud of what this represents for our school, its continuing ethos and knowing that we are one of the fastest schools in the world to have gained accreditation. May I take this opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. We look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 6th January. Martin Smith, Headteacher Christmas Fair The Christmas Fair was extremely well attended and we managed to raise £1,561.90. A big thank you to the FOPHS team and members of the Pixies Hill staff for a wonderful team effort. Highlights this year included a ukulele band, Father Christmas, some fantastic cakes and a mysterious stormtrooper having his photograph taken with many of the children. The Wizard of Oz The children really enjoyed their time at the Elgiva Theatre – thank you to the many parent helpers who made the trip possible. Feedback from the trip was very positive so we will return to see Jack and the Beanstalk next year! Pastures new… Mrs Weeks and Mr Chilcott will be leaving us at Christmas. We hope to still see plenty of Mrs Weeks in the coming months as she will be first choice for any supply work we have available. Mr Chilcott will return to Yorkshire and we thank him for stepping in to the Y1 teaching role at a difficult time. After 10 wonderful years, Mrs Rovnick will be retiring. She will be moving out of the area and be splitting her time between the South West and France. Mrs Clark is moving on to a secondary school position. Mr Nicholas Billy will be joining the teaching assistant team in year 4 for two terms and Mrs McLellan will be joining the year 5 team for 3 days a week until half term when we hope to have a permanent replacement. We had employed someone permanent in this position but she has informed us this week that she is unable to fill the role due to changing personal circumstances. Well done to everyone! Members of Year 4 with DJ Daniel Fox
