  1. Hades Aurelia Felix, hora IV • Greek name: Hades • Roman name: Pluto • Parents: Cronus and Rhea • Sphere of influence: The solid earth, death and the Underworld • Attributes: The attributes of Hades include his watchdog Cerberus, the key to the Underworld, and sometimes a cornucopia or a two-pronged pick-axe. • Birthplace: in the Diktaion cave on Mount Ida on the island of Crete, along with Zeus and Poseidon

  2. Bust of Hades in Italy When I look at this picture of this bust of Hades, I think it makes him look wise, yet sad with empty eyes. This image speaks to me because it’s different from other descriptions and pictures of Hades that I have seen. In others, he is in the Underworld, with a haunted expression. But here, he looks almost peaceful. I chose this because of the different way the artist chose to portray Hades. A marble bust of Hades made in 5 BC by an anonymous sculptor

  3. Hades from Disney This ancient Greek deity has even appeared in a movie before! Hades portrays an evil god, the antagonist. Even though I did not watch the movie, I can automatically sense his harmful thoughts from his fiery blue hair and skull. When I first saw this picture, it took me a while to realize who this god was. Hades looks sinister in this image, although most descriptions of him only describe him as someone who has no real intention of harming someone. The reasons why I chose this picture is because it is almost the opposite of the bust of Hades in the previous slide and an image of a character from a recent movie is also considered ‘modern art’. Hades from the Disney Movie Hercules in 1997, created by Ron Clements andJohn Musker
