  5. Your summary should look something like this: There were many labor strikes during the late 1890s. Business leaders often hired scabs to cross picket lines and work in the factories. The strikers often became violent and threw bombs at the police. The police responded by firing into the crowd and killing the strikers. This violence incited riots. The strikers were found guilty and four of them were hanged.
