  4. The definition of networking is the exchange of information or services among individuals, groups, or institutions; specifically:the cultivation of productive relationships for employment or business. It is simple in its concept, yet very difficult in its execution.

  6. Why don’t more people like Networking? • FEAR • Unknown • Not knowing what to say • Not wanting to be pushy • Not wanting to look like a sales person • Not wanting to be self serving • Rejection • ……………………………………….

  7. Because of Fear People will…… • It’s all about me • Sit with your friends or co worker • The Hostage Taker • One and done • Sitting down • Next Victim • Serial Card Networker • The one night stand • Not follow up

  8. Why do we want to Network • exchange of information - productive relationships - execution- get things done

  9. Why do we want to Network? • To find more people to help • The answer lies in our motivation • Serve Self or Serve others • Do we have their best interest at heart? • Can we help everyone?

  10. The How of Networking…. • Have their best interest at heart. • Focus on them • Ask questions • Be present • Make eye contact • Have a good hand shake • Think about their success • Practice your 30 second speech • Follow up
