  4. Why We Evaluate? -pros • Don’t need to prepared beforehand. • It is like a combination of Prepared Speechand Table Topics. • Organize your ideas and feedback in a short period of time. How do you respond accurately and clearly when someone asks you ‘’what do you think?’’, for instance, during a conference?

  5. [Time Limit] Total: 2~3 minutes Green2 minutes Yellow2.5 minutes Red3 minutes [CC Level] Evaluator > or = Speaker Basic Rules

  6. Individual evaluation is for encouragingand giving suggestions, not for criticizing! Basic Rules

  7. How to do evaluation

  8. During the Speech: Note Taking • Everyone can have their own methods • as long as it is clear enough for you to reviewand organizethe ideas right after the speech. • It is allowed to bring the notes on stage. (make sure you can identify the handwriting XD)

  9. Evaluation is like a mini speech. => Opening, Body, Conclusion Should include both good points(kiss)and suggestions(kick) The ways of doing evaluation are not limited. The following content is the guidelines for you to start. Hopefully, you’ll eventually develop your own style^^ Time to Evaluate!Few things to know beforehand

  10. OpeningBody Conclusion Of your evaluation

  11. OpeningBody Conclusion How to start an evaluation? • Your first impression of the speech • Review a small part that touches you the most • Briefing of the content大綱摘要 don’t make it too long! • Apply the 梗in the speech into your evaluation I am really touched by Joey’s story, especially the part that he struggles with his decision of future career, because it is exactly the dilemma that many of us have gone through…

  12. OpeningBody Conclusion • 3-4 good points, 2-3 suggestions (be aware of the time limit!) • Listing out composition like • *** Kiss- kick- kiss Method Opening Body Conclusion Kiss Kick Kiss

  13. OpeningBody Conclusion What can I talk about?

  14. OpeningBody Conclusion Speech content • Type:humorous, storytelling, educational… etc. • Is there a core value? • Structure (is it well organized?) • Other special methods (comparison, metaphor, self-mocking… etc.) It is a speech full of humor which makes the audience laugh successfully. What’s even better is that the listeners also learn a life lesson from it.

  15. OpeningBody Conclusion Speech skills • Eye contact • Body language • Gestures • Movements • The usage of microphone… etc. The speaker makes interaction with the audience by stretching out his hand for response. To make it even better, I would suggest that he walks arounda little bit to avoid always facing the same audience.

  16. OpeningBody Conclusion Vocal Variety • Emotions(loud& soft) • Dialogues(mimicking, storytelling)… etc. Visual Aids • Slides (ex: PowerPoint) • Pictures • Props… etc. Facial Expression, confidence… and many many more.

  17. OpeningBody Conclusion (Notice) Remember to give both good points and suggestions!!! That is, in the body part, Kiss and Kick!!

  18. OpeningBody Conclusion • Kisssssssssssss • Be clear and precise • Encourage the speaker • To sum up, all in all, for conclusion…etc.

  19. OpeningBody Conclusion All in all, it’s a speech that tells us that we should not believe our intuition. Congratulations for fulfilling your C2. A hardworking person like you would certainly keep improving, and that’s not an intuition, it is a fact I know you would finally achieve.

  20. Avoid negative transitional words: However, but, nevertheless… Avoid strong, emotional words: useless, bad, terrible… (Notice)How do you give suggestions?

  21. Instead, you should say… Friendly suggestion with ways to improve! • Point out the weaknesses, and give advice on how you suggest it to be done. • If possible, demonstrate it yourself. • Always give reasons for the good points and suggestions. This part is really great because… I would suggest you to change this part because…

  22. Directly go to the Kick part when you see the green board (2 minutes). [Time Limit] Total: 2~3 minutes Green2 minutes Yellow2.5 minutes Red3 minutes (Notice)How to avoid being over time?

  23. Kiss-Kick- Opening First impression Briefing Review a small part Body Speech content Speech skills Vocal variety Visual aids Others Conclusion Be clear and precise A little Review -Kiss
