  1. Species Presentation Outline

  2. Classification • Scientific Name [Make sure you write the species name correctly (Ex. Genusspecies)] • Kingdom • Phylum • Class • Order • Family • Genus • Species

  3. Description of the organism • PLEASE USE PICTURES in addition to your words!

  4. Species Range • Include a Map when possible, you may also include on this slide what BIOME your organism inhabits

  5. Major Biome • What temperature, moisture, plants define your organism’s biome, and how that compares to our biome (grassland biome)

  6. How does your organism get its energy? • Explain in ecological terms – Heterotroph/Autotroph • Producer, If consumer……what kind…..detritivore, parasite, predator, etc.

  7. Food Chain • Make sure you start your food chain with a primary producer!!! Organism A Organism E Organism B Organism C Organism D

  8. Food Web • How is a food chain different then a food web? • Make your previous food chain into a food web

  9. Energy Pyramid • Turn your food chain into an energy pyramid. • Is your organism a primary producer, primary consumer, secondary consumer, or tertiary consumer? (Label all of these on your energy pyramid) • Explain why we use an energy pyramid. Why does it look the way it does? (Where does all that energy go from one level to the next?)

  10. Conservation Status • What if anything threatens your organism. • Habitat destruction • Hunting etc. • EVEN if your species is NOT endangered or threatened, list at least 2 ways that human actions impact your organism

  11. Similar or Related Species • If you are having trouble, search the genus of your species. • If your species is not from this area, are there any species in our area that are related to your species?

  12. K or r Strategist? • Describe 3 characteristics of your organism’s life history that helped you decide whether your organism was a K or r strategist. • List at least 2 density independent factors and 2 density dependent factors that affect your organism

  13. Survivorship Curves • Does your organism have a Type I, Type II, or Type III survivorship curve. • Explain what this means (and why this is true of your organism)!

  14. Cool Facts About My Organism

  15. Resources/Works Cited • Include any websites you used for information on this project (even picture references…and “google images” is not the original reference )
