  1. Never Forget The Holocaust By: L. Hennelly http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/de%7Dns_or.html http://history1900s.about.com/od/holocaust/tp/holocaustpictures.htm

  2. Gas Chambers Gas chambers were used for the extermination of the Jewish race, Poles, handicapped, handicapped, gypsies, and Jehovah's Witnesses. Mobile and stationary chambers were used and first took place in December of 1939. Twenty mobile gas vans were built and would kill 40 to 60 people at once. Gas vans would empty prisons and liquidate ghettos. After several months the vans developed operational problems and there were frequent breakdowns. Also, the Schutzstaffel (SS) men that unloaded the vans began to have severe mental stress. Seven-thousand people died because of gas vans. After awhile, Nazi’s decided stationary chambers would be more effective. The first stationary chamber was set up in Belzec in 1942 and were disguised as shower rooms. When you were about to get gassed, they would make you leave all your valuables, you would undress, get your hair cut off, and then go die in the chambers. The chambers would use a gas called Zyklon- B. Once they would gas you the SS would take the bodies and burn them in crematories that were connected. “Gas Chambers/ Vans.” Learning About The Holocaust F-K Volume 2. 2001. Print

  4. Aryanization The Aryans were entitled as the most inferior race, they said they were better than everybody else. The Aryans had Nordic features and called themselves “The Master Race.” Fair skin, blond hair, and blue eyes defined the Aryans. Political dissidents, partisans, homosexuals, handicapped, gypsies, and Jews opposed the Aryan race the most. Hitler wrote a book called “Mein Kampf” that said that Jews are parasites, cheats, maggots, and liars. He said Jews destroy the Aryan race and if we just had Aryans living in Germany, it would make it political and ethnic supremacy. Jewish people were defined as the complete opposite of the Aryan race. This is a girl who would be considered an Aryan in the Holocaust and would not get killed. http://aryanism.net/politics/population-and-demographics/ Hasday, Judy. The Holocaust. 5. Lodz Ghetto In 1827 the population of the city Lodz had 400 Jews, it was the second largest Jewish populated city in Poland. It all started in on December 10, 1939 when an order was sent to form the ghetto. Lodz Ghetto was 1.54 sq. mi. and had a total of 204,800 Jews. The ghetto was ran by Hans Biebow with help of people called the Judenrat’s. Lodz had extremely poor conditions such as starvation, cold weather, and disease. The total number of deaths at Lodz was 43,500 Jews, with starvation being the worst. After this they decided to deport some of the Jews to Chelmna and make Lodz a labor camp between 1942-1944. The new population of the ghetto was 77,000 and 20,000 Jews were deported to Chelmna. The last deportation was on August 30, 1944. Only 5,000-7,000 Jews survived Lodz Ghetto. “Lodz Ghetto.” Learning About The Holocaust L-R Volume 3. 2001. Print.

  8. Kristallnacht Kristallnacht is referred to as “The Night of Broken Glass.” Kristallnacht mainly occurred November 9-11 in 1938. It began without warning and started with “Anti-Jew” riots. The Nazi’s destroyed Jews houses, businesses, and synagogues. The Nazi’s would smash windows, burn houses, and destroy any type of property that belonged to the Jews. On November 11 a total of 7, 500 Jewish businesses and 275 Jewish synagogues were burned and destroyed. After Kristallnacht Jews were taken to concentration camps. 9. Schutzstaffel (SS) In 1923 Adolf Hitler wanted personal bodyguards who were loyal to him. Hitler then made the Stabswache (Headquarters Guard.) They wore black ski caps with silver buttons in the shape of a skull. They later changed their name to Schutzstaffel or SS. The SS terrorized Europe and beat up the Jews. They would of think of themselves as the “Protective Squad.” The leader of the SS was Henrich Himmler. Some of their jobs were to conduct relocation and extermination and decide who would die or work in the concentration camps. Lace, William W. The Nazi’s . San Diego: Lucent Book, 1998. Print.
