About Ms. Smith • I was born and raised in Alpharetta. • I attended Georgia State University for Early Childhood Education with an ESOL endorsement, and I am TAG certified. • I live in Sandy Springs, right by the Chattahoochee river with my miniature schnauzer, Henry.  • I enjoy cooking, kayaking, and hiking. • This is my 6th year at New Prospect, and my 3rd year teaching 5th grade.

Don’t Forget Health! • We will fit health lessons in whenever we can. • Our health units are as follows: - Safety - Personal Health and Wellness - Mental and Emotional Health - Healthy Eating - Alcohol and Other Drugs - Tobacco - Violence Prevention - Human Growth and Development (*Our Human Growth and Development unit will be taught the week before Winter Break, and permission slips will come home beforehand. )

  9. What to expect… • Very fast paced curriculum in order to fit everything in. • A quiz or test almost every week. • Tiered learning stations for students to develop their understanding of the units within the classroom. • Homework of either studying or completing lesson notes, which go with the textbook readings.
