  7. By Martin Niemoller • In Germany, the Nazis first came for the Communists and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak up because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn’t speak up because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I was a Protestant so I didn’t speak up. Then they came for me: By that time there was no one left to speak up.
