  1. Chinese Newsletter Pitch

  2. Mission Statement:     To update the students of Chinese 2-5 on current world, china, and CCHS news every month... all in Chinese! The newsletter will contain news written in Chinese (with English translation) by each Chinese class, as well as vocal tips, word puzzles and games, and quick fun facts in Chinese written by Chinese 5. This will be Chinese 5 (2011)'s lasting legacy for future Chinese classes, and will be taken over next year by current Chinese 4.

  3. Project Plan: We will ask (by form of monthly announcement) students in the Chinese classes (2, 3, and 4) to write a piece for their section of the newsletter. Each person who writes for the newsletter and is selected will earn EXTRA CREDIT. Each Chinese 5 student is responsible for editing work done by a different Chinese class. The students will email their drafts to the editors (see last slide for email info), the Chinese 5 will select the best writing and edit down their class's work. Then the CEO/all-powerful master editor-in-chief will compile the class pages into one document and will distribute the newsletter. The final draft will be in print.

  4. Roles: Chinese 4:       Each person can write one or two sentences about three major WORLD NEWS topics in Chinese (see online for news stories).  Example:   三月十一号 日本有了很大的地震(di4zhen4=earthquake) 和 海啸(hai3xiao4=tsunami) ,很多个人没有房子,没有水电。 On March 11th, Japan had a very big earthquake and tsunami, many people are homeless and don't have drinking water or electricity. ... x 4 headlines

Chinese 3 •   Each person can write one or two sentences about three major CHINA NEWS topics in Chinese (see online for news stories).  • Chinese 2 •   Each person can write one or two sentences about three major CCHS / GENERAL topics in Chinese (see online for news stories). 8. HELLO! We are ready to begin working on the Chinese Newsletter! The Chinese 5 students will be responsible for the entertainment section of the newsletter and will also work as editors. WE will make games such as word puzzles and also include a culture/entertainment section.  The Chinese 4 students will write about world news/events. The Chinese 3 students will write about domestic/ nation-wide news. The Chinese 2 students will write about CCHS/ local news. We would prefer it if you used the vocabulary that you already know, rather than looking up new words. However, if you must look up new words, please include a word bank that shows their meaning and pronunciation along with your article. Chinese 5, send your articles to ericsweet2@gmail.com
