  2. Archimedes Info Archimedes of Syracuse Archimedes was born in Syracuse, Sicily. His Lifespan was c. 287 BC- c. 212 BC. He died around the age of 75 years old. Archimedes probably studied in Alexandria, Egypt.

  3. Field Of Science / Studies • His fields of science : • Mathematics • Physics • Engineering • Astronomy • Invention

  4. Archimedes Inventions More about his inventions? http://library.thinkquest.org/4116/History/inventio.htm The Archimedes screw. It successfully raises water. To burn ships attacking Syracuse, he used mirrors to reflect heat rays.

  5. What is Archimedes most famous for? • Archimedes is most famous for being a mathematician and inventor. He discovered Pi, the relation of surface and volume of a sphere. Also the discovery of what is now called “water displacement”, you can thank Archimedes for that. He is also very famous for his inventions. These include; the Archimedes screw , the catapult, the lever, the compound pulley, and the burning mirror.

  6. How has Archimedes benefited our world? • Archimedes and his studies and inventions have made a huge impact on our world, even today. Without him, things would probably be very complicated. Measuring the volume of irregular objects would be pretty impossible without his discovery of water displacement. Finding measurements of a sphere would also be impossible without his discovery of Pi. His inventions are also very helpful. They were useful then, and still are to this very day. Some are used in every day life. Archimedes has affected our world in many ways. His legacy will always remain well known.

  7. More about Archimedes… Interesting Facts and quotes of Archimedes • He screamed εὕρηκα (eureka) when he discovered water displacement. • When he screamed this he was in the bath as he figured out water displacement. • εὕρηκα (eureka) means ‘I have found it!’ or ‘I have got it!’
