  1. Pacific Centre for Isotopic and Geochemical Research (PCIGR) Earth and Ocean Sciences, University of British Columbia PCIGR is a unique facility that: • Comprises an integrated analytical research centre at UBC equipped with the most up-to-date analytical instrumentation available for isotopic and geochemical research. • Provides analytical support for researchers from the major western Canadian universities (esp. UBC, SFU, UVic, UAlberta) as well as various government agencies, the industry and the international research community. • Promotes multidisciplinary research in isotopes and geochemistry. Analytical Instrumentation Multi-Collector ICP-MS (MC-ICP-MS): Nu Plasma • Applications: • Isotopic compositions of Mo, Nd, Hf, Pb • Isotopic compositions of medium and heavy stable elements (including Cu, Zn, Fe, …) • Laser ablation U-Pb age determinations and in situ measurement of Sr, Nd and Pb isotopes (planned) Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS): Triton • High precision Sr, Nd, Hf, Os isotopic analyses • High precision conventional U-Pb age determinations Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer: Delta Plus XL • H in minerals and fluids, gases • C in graphite, liquids, gases • O in carbonate minerals, gases, liquids • S in sulphides, sulphates, gases • N in liquids, gases

  2. Pacific Centre for Isotopic and Geochemical Research (PCIGR) Laser-Equipped Noble Gas Mass Spectrometer: Micromass 5400 • Laser Ar-Ar dating • (U, Th)-He dating (planned) High Resolution, Magnetic Sector ICP-MS (HR-ICP-MS): Finnigan Element 2 • High precision elemental analysis of most elements in solution at a sub-ppt level • Measurement of selected elements in situ by laser ablation (planned) Clean Chemistry Laboratories Where to find us?
