  2. Themes: Unit 1—Creation Myths • Creation Correction Stories—Common Traits • Draft 1 wasn’t perfect. Erase! Try draft 2! • Destruction: by decay, by flood, by some other natural phenomenon, by animal, etc. • Chosen people • Punishment for some act or trend • Creation out of the destruction

  3. Creation Corrections • Tellers of creation corrections sought to answer such questions as: • Why do bad things and imperfections exist? • Why is life so hard? • Why is there evidence of cataclysmic events?

  4. Questions to ask about Creation Corrections: • Cause of the correction? • Purpose of the correction? • Who caused it (and how)? • What saved the people? • Who was saved (chosen)? • What happens afterward? • Other features…?

I have included stories here if (1) they are stories; (2) they are folklore, not historical accounts or fiction by a known author; and (3) they involve a flood. […] My method for collecting these stories is simply to collect every flood story I find.”
