  8. Need for Annual Planning Team • During planning and evaluation interviews, staff expressed need for clarification of processes, specifically the “core initiatives” process. • Process Review work group was convened; found there to be a lack of clarity and process around existing planning components. • Confusion regarding purpose and language associated with various planning processes has resulted in inefficiencies and frustration. • Need for structure/process to translate ideas into action. What is Annual Planning? • Systematic process of determining 1) where LIRS will focus its efforts in the coming year (i.e., Whatwe will do) 2) How this will accomplished. • Components include: Priority setting, Objectives, Measures, Initiatives, Budgets, and Reporting. Simple Measurement System: Balances financial measurement with non-financial in a straightforward framework.
