  2. your dreams come true… Our dream: • Allow the state agencies to compare their data so that no children were unaccounted for. • Develop data management and tracking system for administering transition for students from Early Intervention to Preschool Special Education. • Develop a system that would not create additional paperwork for either agency or their providers.

  3. Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho…it’s off to work we go! ♫With a shovel and a pick♪ ♪ ♪ • Identified the agencies and the departments within those agencies that would need to be involved.

  4. Impossible things are happening every day… • How can a data base not only look across agencies but push data back and forth. • Provide unique identifier numbers for our Department of Health birth to three children that would follow the students throughout their education years.

Well…. ♫We dig, dig, dig♪ ♪ ♪ • Met with data warehouse specialists. • Hired a consultant that spoke more “data-ease”. • Established criteria for database. • Brought all together with the lawyers to make sure that we were within the boundaries of HIPAA and FERPA.

Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho…it’s off to work we go! ♫It ain’t no trick to get rich quick♪♪ ♪ • This project was named TEDI and was first proposed in 2002. • Hired consultant in 2007 to develop the project. • February 2009 first attempt for data to be exchanged between agencies. • Ready for use December 1, 2009.

Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho…it’s off to work we go! ♫Dig up diamonds by the score♪ ♪ ♪ Having the ability to: • Collect data and analyze data at the state level. • Be able to reconcile Part B data with Part C 618 data. • LEAs do not have to spend hours on a report within excel. • 619 Coordinator does not have to spend weeks working with the excel worksheet to analyze the data to report on the APR.

To Infinity…and Beyond! • Ultimate Dream? • Provide each child with an unique identifier so that all children can be accounted for NOW and in the FUTURE! • Could Part B and Part C exchange information at the highest level of trust? • Would Part C providers accept such a concept? • Would Part B be able to accept such a data-base?
