The RISE (Robotics for Risky Intervention and Environmental Surveillance) special interest group aims to improve the efficacy of various intervention services, including firefighting, civil protection, IEDD, and police operations through advanced robotics systems. This initiative focuses on defining risky interventions, updating state-of-the-art technologies, and facilitating information exchange among members. Additionally, it organizes annual workshops across Europe to encourage collaboration, demonstrations, and the continuous development of a European Open Curriculum in robotics tailored for risky and surveillance interventions.

Defense RMA special interest group RISE Robotics for Risky Intervention and Enviromental Surveillance
Objectives • Define the Risky Interventions where RS (Robotics Systems) could improve the efficacy of Intervention Services (Fire-fighting, Civil Protection, IEDD, Police, etc) • Update the State-of-the-art. For each type of intervention: requirements, existing programmes, repertory of existing Robotics systems • Exchange of information through an active ‘network of RISE members’ and possible launching of projects. • Organisation of an annual IARP/EURON-P Workshop RISE’2xxx (RISE’2008 in Spain, RISE’2009 in Belgium, RISE’2010 in the UK, ....) • Organisation of Demonstrations • Development of a continuously updated European Open Curriculum for Robotics use by Risky and Surveillance Interventions
