Product Information Management ( PIM ) • What does it do? • Manages workflow, storage & retrieval of unstructured product information. • Classifies content - metadata • Delivers / synchronises content across multiple channels & devices. • Results in improved product-related knowledge management, information sharing & synchronisation

Vendors such as IBM Dassault, PTC, UGS. • ECM = Enterprise Content Management • A set of overarching technologies, methods & tools supporting the evolutionary life cycle of digital information. Includes DMS, CMS, WCM & PDM • ILM = Information Lifecycle Management • Focus is storage, access, backup, archiving & retention • MDM = Master Data Management • Management of master reference data through its lifecycle
