  7. Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah. 2 : 12 - 22 Revelation 2:14

  11. "My karma just ran over your dogma" 2 : 12 - 22

  12. "I can’t see church history in any other way except this: semperreformanda, continually being led and taught and guided by the Spirit into new truth." "The old paradigm taught that if you had the right teaching, you will experience God. The new paradigm says that if you experience God, you will have the right teaching." 2 : 12 - 22 Recognized Emergent Church Leader

  13. "In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock." 2 : 12 - 22 Thomas Jefferson 1743-1826

  14. 2 : 12 - 22

  15. "Is the greatest truth about Adam and Eve that it happened or that it happens? ... This is why the Bible loses its power for so many communities. They fall into the trap of thinking that the Bible is just about things that happened a long time ago." 2 : 12 - 22 Recognized Emergent Church Leader

  16. "Who does Peter lose faith in? Not Jesus; he is doing fine. Peter loses faith in himself. Peter loses faith that he can do what his rabbi is doing. If the rabbi calls you to be his disciple, then he believes that you can actually be like him. As we read the stories of Jesus’ life with his talmidim, his disciples, what do we find frustrates him to no end? When his disciples lose faith in themselves.....The entire rabbinical system was based on the rabbi having faith in his disciples…. Notice how many places in the accounts of Jesus’ life he gets frustrated with his disciples. Because they are incapable? No, because of how capable they are. He sees what they could be and could do, and when they fall short it provokes him to no end. It isn’t their failure that’s the problem, it’s their greatness. They don’t realize what they are capable of....God has an amazingly high view of people. God believes that people are capable of amazing things. I’ve been told I need to believe in Jesus. Which is a good thing. But what I’m learning is that Jesus believes in me....God has faith in me." 2 : 12 - 22 Recognized Emergent Church Leader

  17. "What if tomorrow someone digs up definitive proof that Jesus had a real, earthly, biological father named Larry, and archaeologists find Larry's tomb and do DNA samples and prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the virgin birth was really just a bit of mythologizing the Gospel writers …" 2 : 12 - 22 Recognized Emergent Church Leader

  18. "Jesus at one point claimed to be 'the way, the truth, and the life.' Jesus was not making claims about one religion being better than all the other religions. That completely misses the point, the depth, and the truth. Rather, he was telling those who were following him that his way is the way to the depth of reality. This kind of life Jesus was living, perfectly and completely in connection and in cooperation with God, is the best possible way for a person to live." 2 : 12 - 22 Recognized Emergent Church Leader

  19. "Too much of our orthodoxy is correct and sound, but like words without a tune, it does not glow and burn; it does not stir the heart; it has lost its hallelujah. One man with a genuine glowing experience with God is worth a library full of arguments." 2 : 12 - 22 Vance Havner

  20. "If your theology doesn't change your behavior, it will never change your destiny." 2 : 12 - 22 C. H. Spurgeon 1834-1892
