ARI Literacy Focus Integrate Alabama Literacy Act requirements and provide LEA support Restore focus on the original mission and goal to ensure all students in grades K-3 read on grade-level Re-establish singular focus on school-level literacy coaching, to build knowledge, skills, and expertise in early grade reading instruction. Re-establish original ARI training modules and teacher preservice and inservice training grounded in the science of reading. Ensure system of coaching support for K-3 teacher training (preservice teachers, novice teachers, retooling veteran teachers). Align coaching support for LETRS trained educators that will ensure transfer to practice. Reinstate support for district and school instructional leadership that supports a strong school reading and literacy plan. Implement state plan of support for dyslexia, English language learners, and summer learning. Identify and target personnel, resources, and priority support for districts and schools with most urgent needs.

  5. Alabama’s training is offered in a blended solution including: LETRS 2018-2019Cohort 1: 282 Alabama Educators Study, professional reading and connected activities Interactive online courses Classroom “bridge to practice” Selection of three case study students

LETRS Facilitator Trainings – June 2019 3rd Edition/elementary facilitators: 31 Early Childhood Facilitators: 7 2 PreK teachers, 1 elementary teacher 1 DECE PreK, 2 university professors, 1 ALSDE administrator 3 teachers, 13 coaches/specialists, 5 central office staff, 9 university professors, 1 ALSDE administrator
