Apprenticeship in France: main characteristics • One example : B.T.S. (= Advanced technician's certificate) = apprenticeship = every two weeks at school = rest of the time working at the company = a work contract = same exam as full time learning program = A diploma/certificate awarded by the Ministry of Education • Benefit = professional skills • A problem = no evaluation of the professional skills gained
Our VET Program at Négocia (IFV) • Competence = refers to many disciplinary fields • Build the training starting from the competences • Organize the learning activities and tasks (conferences, courses, practical work) necessary to achieve the competences
Characteristics of the VAE system • It is not a scholar test : it is the proof of past experience which is validated as a competence • An expert on the subject assesses the quality of the proof and the process of implementation of the skill • The description of the proofs which constitutes the VAE file is also a level proof of performance in term of capacity of abstraction required at higher educational level (university type)
Conclusion :Methodological remarks • 1 : Determine what skills each unit of learning or apprenticeship develops and at which level of the taxonomy • 2 : The time spent in learning does not mean the level of performance obtained or the credits to allocate • 3 : Determine the evaluation mode or the acquisition way of the skills
