  1. Lower Level Tour From the stairs or elevator, we will circle to the left.

  2. You may check out any items on display behind the reference desk. Librarian Amanda Pape is usually on duty here 9 AM-5 PM Monday through Friday. Other staff and student workers are available 8-9 AM 2

  3. Curriculum Workroom What it Contains: • Trudy’s Books* • ENC Materials* • Kathy Smith Books (KS)* • Typewriter • Binder with combs • Laminator • Die Cuts** * *These materials can only be hand checked. ** Some free paper available for die cuts. 3

  4. Laminating • Laminating must be done by Special Collections staff. • Laminating costs $1.00/ft (minimum charge $1.00) • Patrons can pay with cash, check, or Texan Card • Laminating hours: Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM • Largest width for lamination is 25 inches • Anything larger (i.e. posters) need to be folded and sent through twice. Patrons will be charged for this plus $1 for extra labor to cut open and refold items for second pass. 4

The Eisenhower National Clearinghouse (ENC) Obtained with grants, these include math and science: • books, magazines, and reading materials • kits with supplies for experiments *All items must be hand checked *Special permission is required to check out kit items. Consumables are NOT checked out. 6

The Curriculum Collection Contains (in this order): • Posters and Pictures • Kindergarten Kits & Big Books • Math manipulatives • Science & Social Studies kits • Education Reference books • Education Periodicals • Children’s books • Textbooks (K-12) • Education Resource books • Ag Ed books & Grassburrs • Out-of-date K-12 textbooks 8

Short Stacks near the Office • Posters and Pictures* • Kindergarten Kits (state-adopted) • Big Books (Scholastic and Saxon)* • “Lap” books and “Little” books* • Math, science, social studies materials • Spanish and English picture book pairs* * most items are barcoded and check out for 7 days 9

  11. Children’s and Young Adult Books - Nine rows in Library of Congress call number order. - Children’s Fiction (picture books, readers, chapter books) all have a call number that start with PZ. 11

  12. Textbooks • Current State Adoptions • Out of Date Textbooks (have a red X on the spine) We have a good representation of all current state-adopted textbooks, and usually have both a student edition and a teacher edition. Grade levels are on the call number. 12

  13. Check Out at Circulation - Main Floor Students can have up to 20 items from throughout the library checked out at one time. Most education barcoded items check out for 7 days (those with EDUC or EDUCAG in the call number). EDUC REF items and periodicals are building use only. 13

  14. Hand Check Materials • Trudy’s books • ENC Kits and Books • Kathy Smith Books (KS) • Some manipulatives and other materials from Kindergarten & other kits These items do not have bar codes. Hand checks are done by Amanda or Vickie ONLY Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. 14

Special Equipment • TV with VCR/DVD player • CD player & Cassette player/recorder • Opaque projector (used to “blow up” images for tracing) • TV with satellite • Record player • Magnifiers for visually impaired *Patrons that need to use the audio/video equipment have priority over other patrons in the A/V rooms. Headphones available for A/V only. 15
