  1. Our Objective over the past two years: To create a brand, Rigby Interactive, and develop electronic tools to compliment Rigby Literacy, ESL, and Early Childhood.

  2. The Goals of Rigby Literacy 4-5 Technology Product • • To provide real-life scenarios and product-producing tasks leading students to apply the critical thinking strategies and skills that are being learned with the Rigby Literacy 4–5 print products • • To promote students’ growth in information literacy, using inquiry methods, problem-solving, and working alone, as well as in cooperative teams • • To capitalize on the Internet’s vast resources and opportunities for communication while encouraging safe, purposeful, and efficient use of them

  3. CQ Homepage This is where all teachers and students come in order to begin the program. It will be filled with graphics and information from the CQs and is where the teacher and students log-in.

  4. CQ Online • One research activity assigned for each of the four volumes, a total of four per grade level, for the beginning phase of the program • Each activity is comprised of 10 Challenge Questions. The answer to these Challenge Questions can be found in the information contained on closed web sites that Rigby hosts. • Information is organized using the 13 graphic organizers that are found in the Rigby Literacy Graphic Organizers book. • A Challenge Activity that can only be completed by having answered the challenge questions. • Four Extension Activities that couple what has been learned with an opportunity to write.

  5. Teacher Log-in The teacher will log-in by grade level and be taken to the “classroom,” where she/he can set up the user information for each of her students. In The Virtual Classroom The teacher will enter each student’s name/group name, assign or generate a password for the student/group, choose the CQ volume and issue for the student to work on.

  6. Student Log-in Once the student signs in, he/she begins the assigned research activity.

  7. Goals Of Rigby Literacy Technology Programs • • To provide children practice in using the reading and comprehension strategies and skills that are being taught with the Rigby Literacy K–5 programs • • To provide teachers with more information about teaching comprehension strategies that are grounded in Mosaic of Thought • • To deliver activities electronically in a very appealing, user-friendly way, and within a safe environment • • To promote children’s growth in information literacy and extending critical thinking strategies.
