In our investigation, we address the inefficiencies stemming from using an obsolete version of the Geant4 multiple scattering algorithm. Our goal is to enhance our Particle Simulation Framework (PSF) by switching to the standard algorithm. Based on observations from Geant4 version v9r7, we noted that CPU time nearly doubles with the latest code. We will analyze the log files to identify potential culprits, focusing on instances of multiplicity and replacement currents. Regular evaluations of our simulation tools are crucial to ensure optimal performance.

Switch to “standard” Multiple scattering/Energy loss • Motivation: we are using an old, obsolete version of G4’s multiple scattering algorithm, and we should periodically evaluate our PSF with both versions • Here is all we have to do: G4Generator.mscatOption = false; • My observation, based on GR v9r7: CPU time increases by a factor almost 2!
A few details: who is the culprit? • From the log file: first line is our standard, second with latest G4 code.
Is it the multiplicity? replacement current It seems not!. Good luck!
