Generate Fieldbook The following three “Generate Fieldbook” functions are available to cater to different types of experiments: • pedigree nursery (PN), • yield trial (YT), and • replicated yield trial (RYT). These functions integrate data coming from a germplasm list, previous studies, a layout file, and a customizable study template to provide a data entry form ready to be printed and taken out into the field.
ICISwbk-fbk Randomization and Layout The “Randomization and Layout” function provides an interface for generating a statistical design layout file by calling on the available functions in the BSTAT32.dll of IRRI’s CropStat software application.. RYT Fieldbook + Randomization & Layout • Select The Generate RYT Fieldbook menu item. • Select the RYT Template • Specify the Layout file created by the Randomization & Layout • Setup the column mappings • Click OK
Parent Selection The “Parent Selection” function searches the database for promising germplasms from multiple studies that possess the traits of interest and satisfy the given conditions. It then combines these prospective parents to form a hybridization block list ready for generating new crosses.
Generate Chart The “Generate Chart” function utilizes the rich graphical libraries of R to give the user visual representations of retrieved data from one or more studies. Such libraries include the iPlots which offer a set of interactive graphs all connected with each other and provide real-time depiction of data changes.
Mutant Selection The “Mutant Selection” function is a specialized feature built for the IR64 Mutant Rice Team at IRRI. It combines a germplasm list with a mutant selection file and a study template to create a new set of germplasms of interest for the next planting generation.
